22nd Annual Violetta DuPont Vocal Competition
April 24, 2010
7:00 pm at Lenfell Hall
$30
The Opera at Florham Vocal Competition was established by the Opera Guild in 1987 to honor Mrs. Violetta Pollara DuPont, a founding member of the Guild, for her vision and her tireless work on behalf of OAF. In sponsoring the Competition, the OAF Guild acts in concert with the mission of OAF. The Opera provides young artists on the threshold of promising careers with the opportunities and experiences to advance those careers though a variety of programs such as the Competition.
The goal of the Competition, which is open to all singers, is to support the growth and development of singers by offering cash prizes and an opportunity to perform publicly with OAF in recital or in an opera production. More than a dozen previous finalists are now on the rosters of the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera and other companies here and abroad.
The Opera at Florham Guild vocal competition is an annual event established by Violetta DuPont to benefit young singers, 21 to 35 years, who are pursuing a career in opera.
There are 2 stages to the competition: preliminary and final.
For the preliminary stage a CD of 3 arias is submitted by the contestant to a panel of judges who consider: voice quality, intonation, technique, interpretation, and diction.
The finalists will perform before a live audience and a panel of judges on Saturday April 24, 2010.
The first prize is $5,000.
The second prize is $3,000
The third prize is $1,500
